"Excellent fishing trip! Great communication before the trip and everything was ready to go once we arrived. Capt. Randy had us fishing very quickly and we had some nice redfish in the boat in no time. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and created a great experience for beginner and experienced fisherman. I would happily book with him again and would recommend him to anyone." - Mark
"We had a great trip with Randy. We were very fortunate to limit out the entire boat of 4 guys with a redfish haul incl. one oversized red. Randy was prepared for our group and very knowledgeable about local spots and fishing conditions. We were very fortunate to have great fishing conditions and immediately be pulling in fish. That's not always the case on fishing trips since there are many factors that go into a successful trip. Randy was a superb captain and I would highly recommend him and will definitely book a return trip." - Andrew
"Randy was extremely knowledgable on fishing conditions and techniques . Our conditions were poor to say the least . No wind , no tide , full moon last night , water temp 89 dg. Yet we were able to catch a few fish . I would like to have caught more fish , but hey thats why its called "fishing" !" - Dave
Port Aransas is famous for its variety, and on our half-day trips, we're targeting some real crowd-pleasers. Let's break down what you might be reeling in:
Black Drum: These bruisers are the heavyweight champs of our inshore waters. They love to hang out near structure and can grow to over 30 pounds. When they're on the bite, hold on tight – their powerful runs will test your arms and your drag! Best part? They're excellent eating when caught in the slot size.
Sheepshead: Don't let those funky teeth fool you – sheepshead are smart cookies and a blast to catch. They're structure-oriented fish, so we'll be working pilings and jetties to find 'em. These striped bandits are notorious bait stealers, but once you get the hang of their light bite, you'll be hooked on sheepshead fishing. Plus, they're some of the best-tasting fish in the sea.
Speckled Trout: Also known as spotted seatrout, these guys are the bread and butter of Texas inshore fishing. They're aggressive feeders and will hit both live bait and artificial lures with gusto. Nothing beats the thrill of a topwater trout strike at dawn! Specks are around all year, but spring and fall are prime time for big ones.
Redfish: The rockstars of Texas flats fishing, redfish (or red drum) are what bring anglers from all over to Port A. These copper-colored beauties can be found tailing in shallow grass flats or cruising the deeper channels. When a big red takes off on a scorching run, you'll know why they're so popular. And let's not forget about bull reds – those over-slot monsters that show up in the fall are the stuff of fishing legends.
Port Aransas isn't just another fishing spot – it's a angler's paradise. Our protected bays offer great fishing even when the open Gulf is too rough, and the diversity of species means there's always something biting. With Seidel's Guide Service, you're not just getting a boat ride – you're tapping into years of local knowledge. We know where the fish are holding, what they're biting on, and how to put you on them consistently.
But it's not just about the fish. It's about that moment when the sun's coming up and the water's like glass. It's about the pelicans diving and the dolphins playing in your wake. It's about the stories and laughs shared on the boat. And yeah, it's about that rush when your rod bends double and the drag starts singing. That's the Port A experience we deliver, every single trip.
Look, the fish are out there waiting, and our calendar fills up fast – especially during peak seasons. Whether you're looking to fill the cooler with some tasty fillets or just want to enjoy a morning on the water, our Port Aransas half-day fishing charters are the ticket. Captain Randy's ready to share his passion for these waters and help you create some unforgettable fishing memories. So what are you waiting for? Grab your hat and sunscreen, and let's go catch some fish! Book your trip with Seidel's Guide Service today, and get ready for some real Texas-sized fishing action. Trust me, once you fish Port A with us, you'll be hooked for life!

This is the guy to use for results! Had the waters and weather been better, would’ve had even better results. But caught my limit and was happy

I took my graduating grandson on a morning fishing excursion. Weather was a bit questionable but the experience was great! Thanks to Randy’s knowledge of the area we were able to find a spot yielding several nice slot Speeckled Trout. (They were extremely tasty!). We had to cut short the trip as the storms closed in, (with lightning strikes approaching), but a great morning none the less. Kudos to Randy for his knowledge in locating fish.

It was a rough day for fishing but Captain Randy did his best to put us on some fish. We had 3 little boys that did catch some no keepers and saw some dolphins and a stingray. We enjoyed our time on the water with Captain Randy and our boys. This will be 4 hours these 2 dads will never forget. This is what fishing is all about. It’s not always the fish you bring home, it’s the memories that were made, and for our sons first experience we were happy to have it with Captain Randy. Thank you sir for a great morning!

Randy did a great job helping our 3 kids and was very patient. He knew the area well, even with kids we caught more than the 5/6 other parties at the docs that day on a tough day of fishing. He knew all the guides to call around and see who was catching and where we need to go. We polite and friendly. Equipment in good shape. Great trip

Captain is super friendly and very helpful. Fishing was kind of slow but capt. Seidel knew what he was doing and took us to several different spots after a few minutes of no bites. Highly recommend!

Black Drum are real bruisers, typically weighing 5-30 pounds but sometimes hitting 90. You'll find 'em in the shallows around oyster beds and mud flats. They love crustaceans, so crab or shrimp bait is your best bet. These guys put up a good fight and make that distinctive drumming sound. Spring's prime time when they school up to spawn. The smaller ones under 15 pounds are great eating - nice mild, flaky meat. Bigger ones get tough and less tasty. A local trick: use a heavy duty rod and reel combo. These fish have powerful jaws that can crush oyster shells, so you need gear that can handle the pressure. Patience is key too - they're not the fastest biters, so give 'em time to take the bait before setting the hook.
Redfish are a Texas staple, no doubt about it. You'll find 'em in super shallow water, sometimes with their backs sticking out. They love hanging around oyster reefs, grass flats, and mud bottoms. Most run 20-30 inches, but they can get much bigger offshore. These guys are famous for their coppery color and that black spot near the tail. They'll hit just about anything when they're feeding - topwater lures, jigs, or live bait. The fight is incredible, especially in shallow water. They're also excellent eating. Here's a pro tip: on calm days, look for their tails sticking up as they root around for crabs. Cast well ahead of them and slowly drag your lure into their path. It's sight-fishing at its finest.
Sea Trout, or Speckled Trout as we call 'em, are a favorite around here. They typically run 14-24 inches and 1-5 pounds. You'll find 'em in grass flats and shallow waters, especially at night. They love to hit topwater lures at dawn and dusk - that surface strike is a real thrill. Winter's actually a great time to target big schools in deeper channels. These fish put up a good fight and taste fantastic, with delicate white meat. Here's a local trick: when the bite's slow, try drifting with live shrimp under a popping cork. The noise attracts trout from a distance. Just remember, they have soft mouths, so don't set the hook too hard or you'll tear it right out.
Sheepshead are one of the craftiest fish out there. You'll spot 'em around docks, pilings, and reefs - anywhere with barnacles to munch on. They usually run 1-8 pounds but can get up to 20. Spring's the best time to target 'em when they school up to spawn. Folks love going after sheepshead 'cause they're a real challenge to hook. Those human-like teeth make 'em experts at stealing bait. Plus, they're delicious eating. Here's a tip: use a small, sharp hook and keep your line tight. When you feel that telltale nibble, set the hook fast and hard. Fresh fiddler crabs or pieces of shrimp are your best bets for bait. Get as close to structure as you can - these guys rarely stray far from cover.
